In the medical field, it is an important raw material for manufacturing sulfonamide drugs (such as sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine, and sulfamethazine) and folic acid. It is also used for the synthesis of 2-aminopyrimidine, 2-amino-6-methylpyrimidine, 2-amino-4, 6-dimethylpyrimidine, etc. It can also be used in the synthesis of antiviral drugs and anti-tumor drugs.
In the field of pesticides: It can be used as an intermediate in pesticide synthesis.
In the field of dyes: It can be used to synthesize various dyes, such as thiophene dyes, acridine dyes, etc.
Other fields:
Used as an antistatic agent for synthetic fibers.
It is often used for denatured proteins and the refolding of proteins after denaturation.
As a strong denaturant in the experiment of extracting total RNA from cells, its solution can dissolve proteins, leading to the destruction of cell structure, the destruction of the secondary structure of nucleoproteins, and their dissociation from nucleic acids. Meanwhile, RNase can be inactivated by reducing agents such as guanidine hydrochloride.
Appearance: White or slightly yellowish lumps, and sometimes described as white crystalline powder.
Melting point: The melting point ranges recorded in different materials vary, being 179-186 ℃, 181-183 ℃, 180-185 ℃, and 182.3℃ respectively. The differences may be caused by factors such as measurement methods and sample purity.
Density: 1.354 g/cm³
Solubility: At 20℃, the solubility in water is 200g/100g of water, 76g/100g of methanol, and 24g/100g of ethanol. It is almost insoluble in acetone, benzene and ether. There are also data showing that at 20℃, 228g can be dissolved in 100g of water, 76g in 100g of methanol, and 24g in 100g of ethanol.
pH value: The pH value of a 4% aqueous solution (25℃) is 6.4.
