Basic characteristics
Molecular formula: Usually expressed as \ceC3H7O or \ceC36H70O19 (polymer structure), with a wide molecular weight range (several thousand to several million Da).
Appearance: White or off-white powder/granules, odorless and tasteless, flammable, thermoplastic.
Solubility
Soluble in polar solvents such as cold water, methanol and ethanol;
It is insoluble in hot water (precipitates when the temperature is above 38℃), ether, benzene and other non-polar solvents.
Thermal stability
Carbonization temperature: 280-300℃, color change temperature: 190-200℃
Flash point: 492.8℃, Boiling point: 891.2℃.
Solution characteristics:
The aqueous solution has pseudoplasticity (viscosity increases with the increase of concentration);
A liquid crystal state can be formed at high concentrations.
Pharmaceutical industry
Disintegrant/Binder (L-HPC) :
Wet granulation dosage: 5% - 20% Powder tablet pressing: 5% - 20%.
Coating material (H-HPC) : Forms a water-resistant film to improve the sustained release of drugs.
Food industry
Thickener/emulsifier: Used in jams, condiments and beverages, with a dosage of 0.05% - 2.0%.
Usage: Dissolve in cold water and then mix with the raw materials to avoid precipitation caused by high temperature.

Ceramics/Metallurgy: Binder (solvent-based), high temperature resistant, low ash content.
Coatings/inks: Thickening and dispersing agent, enhancing leveling and adhesion.
Daily chemical products
Shampoo/Lotion: Stabilizer (0.5% - 2.0%)
Hair spray: Film-forming agent (ethanol solution).
Textile and Papermaking
Improve the softness of the fabric and the adhesion of dyes; Oil-resistant coating for paper.
Health risk: Low toxicity (oral LD₅₀ > 2000 mg/kg in rats), but the dust may irritate the respiratory tract.
Environmental risk: Potential hazard to water bodies (leakage prevention is required).
Storage requirements:
Keep sealed to prevent moisture and store away from light (shelf life: 2 years).
Keep away from fire sources (flammable).
