Uses and Synthesis of Deoxycholic Acid

Introduction

Deoxycholic Acid Was Developed by Kythera Biopharmaceuticals and Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (Fda) in April 2015 as the World's First Topical Lipolysis Drug. Deoxycholic Acid Is a Free Bile Acid Present in Bile. It Has Strong Surface Activity and Can Destroy and Dissolve Cell Membranes, Thereby Reducing the Dissolution of Local Subcutaneous Fat in a Small Area. In Clinical Trials, Deoxycholic Acid Can Effectively Eliminate Submental Fat and Improve Overall Appearance Compared to Placebo.

Application

Deoxycholic Acid Is Used to Treat and Improve Moderate to Severe Bulge or Fullness of Submental Fat (Double Chin) in Adults.

Content Analysis

The Method Is the Same as "cholic Acid (10005)", Except That the Sample Size Is Changed to About 500 Mg. When Calculating, Each Ml of 0.1 Mol/L Sodium Hydroxide Is Equivalent to 39.26 Mg of Deoxycholic Acid (C24h40o4).

Chemical Properties

Slightly Soluble in Water, Soluble in Ethanol, Ether, Trichloromethane, Acetone, Glacial Acetic Acid, Soluble in Alkali Hydroxide and Carbonate Solutions. It Is Derived from a Cholanic Acid Extracted from Pig Bile.

Use

Bacteriological and Enzymatic Studies; Used for Solubilization of β-Adrenergic Receptors.
