Uses and Synthesis of 4-Methylpyridine

Use

It Is Used in the Production of the Drug Isoniazid, The Antidotes Dichlorodiphenylphosphine and Dichlorodiphenylphosphine, And Is Also Used in the Production of Pesticides, Dyes, Rubber Additives and Synthetic Resins.

Production Method

It Is Produced by Synthesis and Recovery from Coal Coking Byproducts. Acetaldehyde Reacts with Ammonia to Mainly Produce 2-Methylpyridine and 4-Methylpyridine. Ammonia Is Preheated to 450℃, Mixed with Gasified Acetaldehyde, And Passed Through a Fluidized Reaction Tower Preheated to 430℃ and Equipped with an Aluminum Silicate Catalyst to React at 410-430℃. The Generated Gas Is Separated and Condensed, And the Resulting Reaction Liquid Is Put into a Dehydration Pot, 2% Solid Alkali Is Added, Refluxed and Dehydrated at 92℃ for 2h, And Then Allowed to Stand for Stratification and Fractionation. The 142-144℃ Fraction Is Collected to Obtain 4-Methylpyridine. The Yield Is 20% Based on Acetaldehyde (125-130℃ Fraction Is 2-Methylpyridine). Raw Material Consumption Quota: Liquid Ammonia 1174kg/T, Acetaldehyde 3019kg/T.
